Project #3--Ripstik Illustration

Change suggested: Add text.

The idea here of course, is to create the effect of chalk on pavement. Unfortunately, I cannot take full credit for coming up with the phrase as I found similar phrases on a google search for "ripstik posters." But I suppose it was inspiration right?

  1. Looks great Sam! Nice chalkboard font selection! Did you try bringing the opacity down just a little bit so you could barely see the pavement through the chalk like how chalk works with the pavement in the real world environment? Or maybe ever so lightly erasing areas of the font? It was just a thought?

  2. Really, really nice, Sam. Illustrator? Adding the text is a great enhancement. The only minor concerns I have are the "shine" at the back of the skateboard and the shadow; neither look as natural as they could be.

  3. Sam, my first impression was "wow". You have found a great phrase to pair with the image. I agree with both comments above: the words could look more integrated with the gravel by lowering the opacity; the highlight on back of the Ripstik could sit more carefully on the edge, and not eliminate all the details in that area; and the shadow needs to also be more integrated with the gravel showing us some of the texture in that area. Nice work - a few more steps and this will be done.

  4. Instead of lowering the opacity of the text, would it work to "multiply" with the background?
