Project 9 / Website for Templeton Center Burial Ground / Virginia

As you all know, my passion is for all things historical, especially if they're connected to Templeton, where branches of my family have lived since before 1775. This website is for the Templeton Center Burial Ground. Desi noted that the title in the header needs to be centered -- good catch! Chris asked if I could shorten the list of inscriptions on the gravestones, using a few samples instead of that L-O-N-G list. I included all the inscriptions, thinking that people who love to peruse such things would like to "see" them all here. However, I do see the wisdom of only a sample. What do you think? Also, on the HOME page, be sure to click on LINKS in the footer for a "giggle." Click here for the site: Templeton Center Burial Ground.

  1. V - Nice images, and of course I started with the link at the bottom, and am now planning my coffin play list (grin).

    1. The typeface for your navigation is larger than your body copy - which seems strange because it can be much smaller, and probably should be. Try reducing the pt size, using bold, and using small caps (which lends historical significance by its use).

    2. We see empty, and trapped negative space under some type blocks on the Graven Images page. What can be done to this layout to avoid leaving these "holes"? Additional pictures, type, or both?

    3. The lists on the Inscriptions page seems long, but only because the list itself isn't inviting enough to read. You need to introduce some negative space after each item in the list, which will help break up the density of the section, and allow us to more easily read it. Yes, it will make the list actually longer in scrolling time - but that's ok because we don't have to read every entry then... we can pick and choose because we will see them as slightly separate from each other.

    4. "Table of Contents" link should probably read as "Home" at bottom and should appear on following pages and not on first page.

    5. Should "Links" text at bottom read as "Musical Casket" or something that gives us an idea of what we will find when jumping to that link? I love the idea that you could include it conceptually in the site... but you'll need to think about how to do it.

    That's it!
